Don't get lost in the hype

The hype builds. The competition starts. A winner is born. The world revolves. We who have been subject to this wonderful hype have noticed, (and I'm sure many people would agree here) that it dies down as fast as it comes up. You're hot and what not, and in a flash, your just a speck in history. It has been seen, it has been heard and it has been witnessed.

Do we follow it up with creation that wow the world? Only time will tell. Or are we just helping those worthwhile sponsors in cutting their budget? I'm sure that many of us know the answer. It takes hell of a lot more than talent to make history, or actually be noticed in it. You're the best one day, and it'll be a matter of time till someone else breaks that. But hey, they can be proud, they pushed themselves to make it. Nothing comes out of the box. Nothing happens unless you make it happen. And everyone who can, will stomp you down to get on top of you.

Then, we eventually come down to the boilerplate question, how do we do it? I think any fool, (or a smart ass) can answer that. Hard work and having some good fortune up your sleeve. A famous band, (shoot yourself if you don't know) said it's 40% music and 60% marketing. They couldn't be more truthful if they tried.

So the next time you want to whine around, complain and start blaming the people for having bad taste (oh yeah, we all can relate to that one) ask yourself, have you done what it takes, have you given what it takes, have you sacrificed all you can and more. Well if you did, you'd be up there playing at Wembley, with thousands cheering on. Oh, and if you didn't, well then, you never really tried.
